LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say 45-year-old Debra Woodcock shouldn't have been driving Monday morning, but she was -- and now she's facing charges.
It happened at the corner of Transylvania Ave. and River Road, shortly before 1 a.m. on July 9.
Officers say they saw Woodcock texting on a mobile device while she was driving her silver, 2007 Honda Element. Police say she was driving carelessly, crossing the center line multiple times and even driving into the opposite lane, potentially placing her at risk of being hit by oncoming traffic.
When an officer stopped Woodcock, it was immediately apparent that she had been drinking, according to an arrest report. Police say she smelled strongly of alcohol, had difficulty staying on her feet, and had glossy eyes. Woodcock allegedly admitted to having, "a couple of drinks" at the Captain's Quarters restaurant.
Woodcock was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, careless driving and improper use of a communications device while driving.
