LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Fourth of July may be over, but police say one Louisville man wasn't finished with fireworks, and unfortunately, they say he wasn't handling them in a safe and responsible way.

He was throwing dangerous fireworks at people, according to police.

It happened Sunday night just before 9 p.m. Police say they were on Bardstown Road, near the Mid City Mall and Baxter Avenue Theatres, when they witnessed 18-year-old Trey Johnson throwing "exploding fireworks" at a pedestrian.

Police say he threw more fireworks into a crowded parking lot nearby.

When they stopped him, he smelled strongly of marijuana, according to an arrest report. Police say they found marijuana rolling papers in his right thigh pocket and a container with marijuana residue in his backpack.

They also allegedly found three fireworks on his person.

Johnson is charged with disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia.
