LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A kayaker says he came face-to-face with a Great White Shark off the coast of Cape Cod over the weekend.
If you doubt him, take a look at the picture at right.
It shows Walter Szulc, Jr. paddling for dear life -- literally -- with the shark right behind him.
He says he saw the fin and started paddling.
Oddly enough, he had just been reassuring his daughter that the chance of seeing a shark was minimal.
"No, I'm not gonna dwell on it, but it was kind of odd that I said all the things that I said," he explained. "Kind of mocking the species in a way, prior to going out there. So, maybe it was karma. I don't know. To be honest with you, I'm happy it happened. While standing here talking to you...it was a kind of a cool experience."
Experts say the sharks are being drawn to the Cape Cod area by an abundance of seals, which they eat.
