Louisville needs more software programmers

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville has a shortage of software programming workers.

Mayor Greg Fischer is announcing a fellowship program aimed at increasing the number of people working in that field.

It's called the Code Louisville Fellowship Initiative.

The city's looking for interested candidates and employer sponsors.

Officials say there are more than 400 coding jobs waiting to be filled, including positions as programmers, developers and systems analysts.

Jefferson Community and Technical College, Greater Louisville Inc. and Kentuckiana Works are partnering in the program.
