New Kentucky laws in effect now

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Several new laws have just gone into effect in Kentucky.

One limits the amount of cold medicines people can buy with ephedrine or pseudoephedrine.

Tightening those rules aims to limit access of the drug to people trying to make meth.

Other laws that took effect today require everyone riding in 15-passenger vans to wear seatbelts.

That's after a crash on Interstate 65 that killed eleven members of a Mennonite family.

Another law aims to cut down copper thefts.

Recycling centers won't give out cash right away when people bring in copper items.
