ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (AP) -- City and police officials in Elizabethtown, near the Fort Knox Army post, will be offering training sessions for civilians to learn about post-traumatic stress disorder.
Law enforcement officers, first responders and security personnel are being urged to attend the training to be held next Tuesday and Wednesday at the Elizabethtown Police Department, The News-Enterprise reported.
The training is organized by the police department, the Institute for Advanced Study at Lindsey Wilson College and One Knox, an agency that promotes the region around Fort Knox.
Conrad Curry, a spokesman for One Knox, said they want to provide the training to respond to the needs of soldiers coming home to Kentucky from Afghanistan.
The training will include a panel of local health officials who have experience treating soldiers with post-traumatic stress.
