Electronic waste recycling drive benefits local charity

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY (WDRB) -- A local recycling program is benefiting the environment and a local charity.

St. Martha Church hosted an electronic waste recycling drive, or e-drive, Saturday. Residents could drop off their unwanted household electronic items.

Everything from audio equipment to computers to power tools were accepted by the company 2TRG.

"Most of the stuff has toxic material in it. For example, a television set has clean glass, but the back of the tube has lead toxins," said Steve Mumford, account manager, 2TRG.

Saturday's drive benefits Catholic Charities. 2TRG has collected close to 100,000 pounds of e-waste since January.
