Chris Smith made his NBA Summer League debut in Las Vegas Saturday.
Former University of Louisville player Chris Smith is
officially in the NBA – at least the Summer League portion of the league.
Smith made his Summer League debut for the New York Knicks
Saturday in Las Vegas. Smith came off the bench and played about 10 ½ minutes.
In fact, he played behind former Indiana guard Jeremiah Rivers, who is also
trying to make the team.
And Kenneth Faried, the former Morehead State star, is a
harder worker than even I believed. Faried made the NBA All-Rookie First team
last season. I thought it was a misprint when Faried was listed as a Summer
League participant for the Denver Nuggets.
Wrong.
Faried is playing.
Here is the rundown on how several former local players
performed on Saturday:
Chris Smith (Louisville): 7 points, 1 rebound for the New
York Knicks
Jeremiah Rivers (Indiana): Started and scored 6 points with
5 rebounds for the Knicks.
Kenneth Faried (Morehead State): 10 points and 8 rebounds
while playing more than 34 minutes for the Denver Nuggets.
Former Louisville guard Edgar Sosa was supposed to make his
debut for Sacramento, but he will miss the Summer League because of a broken
foot.
