Top recruit Jabari Parker has a broken right foot.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Has the Sports Illustrated Cover Jinx
introduced itself to Jabari Parker?
It appears so.
Several months after SI anointed Parker with a cover story
that screamed he was the best high
school basketball player since LeBron James, Parker's summer of basketball is
over. His father, Sonny, told the Chicago Tribune, said that Jabari has a
fracture in his right foot. That will end his summer of basketball.
Sonny Parker said the injury likely occurred while Jabari
was playing for Team USA in Lithuania. He'll be fine by the start of the Simeon
high school season and certainly by the time he selects a college from among
his list of 10 finalists, which includes Kentucky.
But Julius Randle or one of the Harrison twins – Andrew and
Aaron, might overtake Parker at the top of the Class of 2013 rankings. Or even
Aaron Gordon, a forward from San Jose, Calif., enjoying an incredible summer.
Better than LeBron, but not better than four high school
peers.
That's the Sports Illustrated Jinx – and the recruiting
merry-go-round – for you.
