Woman shot to death in New Albany

NEW ALBANY, Ind.  (WDRB) -- Floyd County Coroner Leslie Knable has released the name of a woman who was shot and killed in New Albany Friday night.

Knable said 23-year-old Amanda McAnelly, of New Albany was shot at the Plaza Square Apartments near Grant Line Road.

Police said the shooting occurred at about 9:20 Friday night. McAnelly was pronounced dead soon afterward.

New Albany Police arrested 27-year-old Ivan Chambers. Chambers has been charged with murder, and additional charges are pending investigation.

Police say McAnelly and Chambers have a child in common. A toddler was found in the apartment, unharmed.

The coroner says the victim and Chambers, as well as their child, lived together at 55 Plaza Square Apartments until recently. The coroner says McAnelly reportedly moved out and was at the apartment Friday evening to pick up her daughter and some of her belongings.

The coroner says she was found shot to death in her daughter's room.
