LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Salvation Army here in Louisville is helping people in Kentuckiana train for emergencies.
Officials say whenever a major disaster happens, they step in to help assist and feed the affected area.
Today, they held a class to help make sure people are prepared for this.
The class is among a series of workshops the organization offers for emergency disaster situations.
Salvation Army officials say they have many volunteers, but making sure they are trained for disasters is essential.
"As you can imagine when you're on the ground working in those type of environments, there is a lot of confusion and a trained volunteer is just a huge help to those people," said Salvation Army Marketing and Development Director Bert Griffin.
Officials are hoping for more people to take part in these workshops to get trained for disaster situations.
