Ky. Gov. signs emergency regulation, "House Bill 1"

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Ky. Gov. Steve Beshear has signed emergency regulations, hoping to stop prescription drug abuse.

Under the order, pain clinics will be more regulated and doctors will be required to use the state's prescription drug tracking system.

They'll remain in effect until permanent regulations are adopted.

Some physicians have raised concerns that the order exceeds the original goal of the bill passed by lawmakers.

But Beshear says the emergency regulations do match the intent of the bill.

Beshear, Atty. Gen. Jack Conway and House Speaker Greg Stumbo will discuss House Bill 1 at a news conference this afternoon.
