LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An eastern Kentucky man admits he sold his vote in an election.
Richard Moore says he charged $25 for his vote.
Prosecutors in eastern Kentucky say it has been an accepted practice for decades.
In the past two years alone, more than 20 public officials have pleaded guilty or have been convicted in vote-buying schemes.
Moore testified he sold his vote to Michael Salyers, who was running for Breathitt County Magistrate.
"I had one gentleman come to me and say, Mike, I have four votes," said Salyers. "He took them and voted, come back and I gave him $100 -- $25 a vote."
In another county, prosecutors say the payoffs were done with drug money amounting to $400,000 over several elections.
