Helicopter Crash in Rural Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ind. (WDRB) -- A helicopter pilot was hospitalized early Friday after he crashed in a soybean field.

According to a news release from Indiana State Police, the crop duster was spraying the field located about a half-mile east of State Road 3 on State Road 256 in Jefferson County near Deputy, when the pilot crashed.

The pilot -- identified as Kevin C. Rossan, 35, from Troy, MI -- was taken to the King's Daughters Hospital in Madison, with serious injuries.

The FAA will be in charge of the crash investigation and will make the final determination of the cause of the crash.
