Bullitt County EMS pink ambulance honors cancer survivors

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- First responders are taking a ride for cancer survivors.  Bullitt County EMS showed off its brand new pink ambulance.

The idea came about after one of their own became a cancer survivor.  Patty Hughes was the first to sign the ambulance.

Now the crew will carry markers with them, and invite other cancer survivors to leave their personal message on board.

Keith Bincent of Bullitt Co. EMS says, "We wanted to have a positive impact for the community, we want people when they see the ambulance going down the road we want them to say, my mom signed that fender so give them ownership."

They want to decorate the next new ambulance in red and dedicate it to cardiovascular disease survivors.
