Louisville is a solid pick over a 1-6 South Florida team to win the Big East in football this season.
NEWPORT, R.I. -- Louisville football coach Charlie Strong is about to meet with media members from across the Big East markets, and the first question he'll have to answer is this:
How will you motivate your team now that you can no longer tell your players that nobody believes they can win?
Why?
Because nearly every media member in the Big East believes that Strong's third U of L team is the one to beat in the Big East football race this season.
Over the three prior seasons, Louisville had been picked to finish seventh, eighth and seventh in the league.
Louisville is picked first in 2012, earning 24 of 28 first-place votes. South Florida earned the other four votes. Interesting pick. USF was only 1-6 in the league last season.
Rutgers is the pick for third with Cincinnati fourth, Pittsburgh fifth, UConn sixth, Syracuse seventh and newcomer Temple last.
Two Louisville players made the list of 14 players to watch in the league this season -- defensive backs Hakeem Smith and Adrian Bushell.
