Auburn coach Gene Chizik dismissed quarterback Zeke Pike of Dixie Heights High School from the team today.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It was a big deal when Zeke Pike of Dixie Heights High School committed to Auburn last year.
Kentucky kid signs with a Southeastern Conference power, coming off national championship season. Pegged as QB of The Future. Doesn't happen every day.
It's a bigger deal today that Auburn coach Gene Chizik said that Pike is already going, going, gone from Auburn, preferring to transfer after being sent home this summer for violating team rules. Pike must not have looked great in spring practice. SEC powers don't cut loose The Quarterback of the Future that easily.
Kentucky already has a couple of young quarterbacks, including Patrick Towles of Fort Thomas Highlands. The UK coaching staff took heat for losing Pike and going with Towles last summer. The UK coaching staff looks good for that move today.
Zeke Pike is a man without a team.
Who needs a quarterback that Auburn asked to leave?
