Kevin Wilson greeted Tom Crean at Indiana's first football practice Thursday.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Kevin Wilson opened his second season as
the Indiana University basketball coach with a surprise guest on the sidelines
for the first practice:
IU basketball coach Tom Crean, who stayed for most of the
two hour and 15 minute session.
"I think he's a frustrated football coach," Wilson said. "And
I think I'm a frustrated basketball coach."
Wilson, who came to Indiana from Oklahoma, says that he does
not flinch when people tell him that he's trying to win at a basketball school.
"Somebody said we're a basketball school," Wilson said. "I
believe this is a great school and we should be good in everything."
There's work to do in football – a lot of work. Wilson went
1-11 during his first season and IU was outscored 342-147 in Big Ten play.
*There are two former Louisville high school players on the
IU team – brothers Forisse and Drew Hardin, who both played at Ballard High
School. Drew plays safety and Forisse could be moving from safety to
linebacker.
Wilson announced that Forisse is one of three players who
will serve a one-game suspension for violating team rules. Receiver Kofi Hughes
and defensive back Lawrence Barnett will also miss one game.
Wilson also announced that three other players have left the
program – defensive back Shaquille Jefferson, receiver Logan Young and receiver
Jay McCants.
