LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Indiana State Fair opens today, and both people and animals are trying to beat the heat.Temperatures are likely to hit the 90s, and livestock handlers are working to keep their animals comfortable.
There's no air conditioning in the pavilion that houses the animals.
Cows will have fans blowing on them constantly, while pigs will be hosed down frequently."We're really focusing on keeping them cool because as long as they are cool they won't stress out," said Kayla Newson of Cicero, Ind.
The fair also has a veterinarian ready to respond to any animal emergency.
