Former University of Louisville basketball commitment Rodney Purvis is missing a preseason trip to Spain with his N.C. State team because the NCAA has questions about his eligibility.
According to The Charlotte Observer, Purvis is part of the first graduating class from Upper Room Christian Academy in Raleigh, and has not yet cleared the NCAA Clearinghouse process.
In a statement released by the school, N.C. State coach Mark Gottfried said: "Obviously the timing is not ideal. I'm
disappointed he will not travel Sunday. He could join us once the
process is completed, but my primary focus is making sure Rodney is
ready to pursue his goals at N.C. State over the next four years."
A 6-3 guard, Purvis is expected to start for the Wolfpack this season.
A top 10 player in the class of 2012, Purvis decommitted from Louisville after assistant coach Tim Fuller left for Missouri.
