LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB Fox 41)---Shelby County authorities are investigating a shooting in Simpsonville, KY.

A Sheriff's Department official says a man was shot at least three times following an argument.

The shooting happened Sunday in a parking lot of the Meadowridge Apartments.

The detective says a Hispanic male was shot in the hip and the abdomen.

The man, who was not identified, was taken to University Hospital in Louisville where he was still in surgery around 3 p.m., according to police.

Those living near or around the Meadow Ridge Apartments were told to stay put as police combed the area looking for a suspect. No description was given.

Authorities are still working to identify the suspected shooter.

"We are still working on suspect information. We still have a few more interviews to do, but we're getting very close to being able to name a suspect," says Major Jason Rice with the Shelby County Sheriff's Department.
