LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- The man charged in the stabbing death of a man near Churchill Downs will need a half a million dollars to get out of jail.

Robert Matthews held a paper over his mouth as he faced a judge Tuesday morning.  He's charged with murdering 46-year-old Anthony Maupin Sunday night on Kenton Street.  Neighbors tell WDRB News the two were best friends and got into a fight.

In court Tuesday morning, the judge appointed Matthews a public defender.
