LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Authorities say they have arrested a 55-year-old man for leaving his 7-year-old grandson alone in a hot car at a Louisville junkyard.

According to an arrest report, Richard E. Rose drove his grandson to the Pull-A-Part salvage yard on Recovery Road, near the Louisville International Airport, to look for an alternator.

While looking, he allegedly left his 7-year-old in the car.

Employees of the salvage yard discovered the child and contacted a sheriff's deputy.

When the deputy found the child, he was, "crying and sweating profusely," and he told the deputy that he was, "too little to be in the car alone," according to an arrest report. Authorities say the outside temperature at the time was 91 degrees, and the 7-year-old had been in the car at least 30 minutes.

The windows were partially open, according to the report, but the car was sitting in full sunlight.

Rose was arrested and charged with wanton endangerment.
