LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say two men were caught with four purses at Oxmoor Mall Monday afternoon, but it wasn't their unusual choice in accessories that got them in trouble: it was the fact that the purses weren't theirs.

According to arrest reports, it started shortly after 2:30 Monday afternoon, near Dillard's at the Mall St. Matthews. Police say a woman saw 30-year-old Robert Occhipinti and 29-year-old Christopher S. Melson "fleeing" from the Dillard's department store carrying four women's handbags.

The men allegedly jumped into a car and drove away.

Police say the woman followed the men and called 911. She was able to give dispatchers a description of the car, and followed the men down Shelbyville Road to Oxmoor Mall.

When police arrived, they allegedly found Melson in the car in the Oxmoor Mall parking lot. While there, police say they witnessed Occhipinti walking out of Macy's department store, carrying four pairs of Oakley sunglasses, worth a total of $1,020.

When Occhipinti saw police, he put the merchandise down and tried to walk away, according to an arrest report.

Both men were arrested.

Police say they found the four handbags, worth $1,112, in the trunk of the car. The handbags were returned to Dillard's.

Both men are charged with theft.
