LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say something shocking was going on inside a local day care center.  According to a news release, 24-year-old Aaron Collins is charged with dealing marijuana out of the center.

Police say he sold drugs to an undercover officer at Heavenly Angels Daycare in New Albany, Ind. on August 1st.  That center is operated by Collins' girlfriend's mother, and authorities say he also lived at that address.

Collins told the judge on Wednesday, however, that he actually lives in Louisville.  A woman at the daycare who identified herself as Collins' girlfriend Tara White told WDRB News that they have three children together, he has a job at Rally's, and the whole thing is a misunderstanding.

His girlfriend says the daycare is still open for business.

WDRB's Jennifer Baileys asked Collins as he was led away in handcuffs Wednesday whether he had sold drugs at the daycare.  He shook his head "no."

The prosecutor says Collins' criminal record contains a guilty plea in 2007 to possession of cocaine.  The day care is also located within 1000 feet of S. Ellen Jones Elementary School, which makes the offense a felony.

The judge set Collins' bond at $20,000.  If he is found guilty of the marijuana charge, he could spend up to eight years in prison.  His trial is set for October.
