LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It's back-to-school time and shopping for school supplies can get expensive, but some local students are going on a shopping spree for free.
Target gave 25 students from the Salvation Army a shopping spree. Each child got an $80 gift card, so they could buy school supplies and clothing.
"We let them in early a little bit earlier, get them checked out before it gets too busy," said Target employee Dorothy Koebel.
"Also, we have a back-to-school bash that is going on today at Louisville area command," said a Salvation Army representative. "We're inviting the community to come out for those who need backpacks and just enjoy the festivities."
Target awarded all 40 of the Salvation Army Divisions nationwide a total of $960,000 worth of gift cards.
