St. Xavier senior Lucas Jones is a scratch golfer at 17-years-old, a feat nothing short of incredible.
Just look at an X-ray of Lucas' hip, and you'll see why. He's missing the right side of his pelvic bone, with screws helping hold his leg to the socket.
It's the product of a rare form of bone cancer that Lucas battled when he was 11-years-old. Walking 18 holes, let alone playing well, was out of the question -- until Lucas wouldn't take no for an answer.
Fortitude is defined as "mental and emotional strength in facing adversity and danger courageously'.
But what Lucas accomplished this summer on a golf course can best be titled Fore-titude.
