CLARKSVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- A southern Indiana school is getting a special gift this morning.
Roughly 525 kids at Parkwood Elementary School in Clarksville, Ind. gathered in the gym for an assembly. They found out they're all getting new backpacks filled with notebooks, pencils, erasers and crayons.
"We had picked Parkwood because we had heard about their new fitness program," said Shannon Palmer of MDWise. "MDWise is about enabling children to be healthy and preventative care."
"For kids to have the right tools to do their schoolwork it's critical for their educational success," said Janice Korfhage, principal of the school.
One by one, students walked out of the gym with their new backpacks.
