LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two women have been arrested after police say they were caught shoplifting more than $2,400 worth of designer sunglasses.

Police say it happened at the Gaddie Eye Centers on Shelbyville Road, near Arterburn Drive.

According to an arrest report, 32-year-old Heather Kessel of Crestwood, Ky., along with her mother, 56-year-old Dorothy McClain of LaGrange, Ky., were seen by store associates placing 10 designer sunglasses in their purses without paying for them.

The sunglasses were worth a total of $2,491, according to an arrest report.

Police say the incident was captured on security cameras, and McClain was using her three grandchildren -- ages 10, 8 and 3 -- to create a commotion so store employees would be distracted while they committed the thefts.

Police arrested Kessel and McClain at the scene and charged them with theft, according to an arrest report.

The children were picked up by Kessel's father.
