Indiana Governor Daniels pushes for motorcycle safety

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels made a pitch for motorcycle safety on Friday.  Daniels joined members of the biking group ABATE of Indiana on his last ride as governor.  ABATE promotes motorcycle safety and trains riders.

Daniels noted there has been a slight uptick in motorcycle accidents in the past year. He attributed that to self-trained motorcyclists and said "nobody should be jumping on a bike without having somebody teach them first."

Daniels cannot seek re-election in November because of term limits.

Daniels thanked riders for their donations to Indiana's National Guard. Indiana Adjutant General Martin Umbarger said the annual rides have raised roughly $30,000 for National Guard families.
