LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Kentucky State Police say a motorcyclist has died after a two-vehicle crash in Trimble County just before 7:30 Friday evening.

Police say 43-year-old Mark Rexroat was traveling east on Highway 42 on a motorcycle and 49-year-old Perry Cook, who was driving west on Highway 42 in a truck. Police say Cook made a left hand turn and drove into the path of Rexroat's motorcycle.

Rexroat was flown to University Hospital where he later died. Cook was not injured in the crash.

Both men were from Bedford, Kentucky.

A spokesman with the Bedford Fire Department says Rexroat was a firefighter with the department and in the past had held the positions of Assistant Chief and Assistant Chief of Rescue.

Police say Rexroat was wearing a helmet.
