DANVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Police in central Kentucky have arrested a 21-year-old man in the shooting of 2 teens at a grocery store.
Danville Police Chief Tony Gray told The Advocate-Messenger that Joshua A. Sargent is being held without bond at the Boyle County Detention Center on charges of attempted murder and wanton endangerment. Jail records don't indicate whether he has an attorney.
Police were called to the parking lot of Rincon Latino, a Hispanic grocery store, Monday evening on a report of shots fired. Police say the shooting victims, 18-year-old John D. Cherry and a 17-year-old girl, both of Danville, were taken to a local hospital. The juvenile was later released, but Gray said Cherry was still at the hospital Tuesday morning. His condition was unknown.
Gray says officers are trying to determine the motive for the shooting.
