Man dies after hitting tree in Seneca Park

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say one person was killed in a single vehicle crash early Tuesday morning in Seneca Park.

The victim is believed to be a man in his 20s. He was not immediately identified. Police say his body was discovered behind the wheel of his car around 8:30 a.m., but they believe he may have crashed several hours earlier.

The victim was found near Pee Wee Reese Road by the tennis courts in Seneca Park. Police say it appears the vehicle left the road and crashed in a wooded area.

"It does appear that the vehicle ran off the roadway," said LMPD spokeswoman Carey Klain. She says the car appeared to have been traveling at a high rate of speed before it slammed into a tree.

"It does appear that speed is a factor in this collision," Klain said.

Police say the victim was not wearing a seatbelt.
