LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say they had to convince an intoxicated man to come down from the roof of a building after officers broke up a group of several teens who had been drinking.

It happened shortly after midnight on Sunday, at the corner of Brownsboro Road and Ballardville Road.

Officers were sent to that location on a report of an officer in trouble. When they arrived, they allegedly found a large group of teens drinking.

Police say they also found 19-year-old Trenton J. Kulmer on top of the roof of a building on Brownsboro Road, "causing alarm to the public."

According to an arrest report, police asked Kulmer to come down, but he told them he couldn't because he didn't have a ladder. When they asked him how he got up there in the first place, he allegedly told him that he did indeed use a ladder.

But police say he really didn't have one, and an officer had to meet him on the other side of the building, where there was a low area he could climb down from.

When police apprehended Kulmer, they say they noticed that his eyes were glossy and red, and he smelled of alcohol. Police say he refused to follow instructions while being handcuffed and wanted to fight officers as he was being placed in the police cruiser.

At one point, he allegedly knocked an officer over and began running away, still in handcuffs.

Police say they had to use a stun gun on Kulmer in order to subdue him.

He was arrested and charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and menacing.
