BOZICH: IU Freshman Has 17 Brothers, 8 Sisters

IU freshman Peter Jurkin has eight sisters and 17 brothers.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – We're two months from the start of the college basketball season, but I've already seen one of the most remarkable stats:

Peter Jurkin will be a freshman center for Tom Crean at Indiana University. He stands 7 feet and weighs 230 pounds. He is a native of Sudan. And he is one of 26 children in his family, with eight sisters and 17 brothers.

Jordan Cohen calculated that the 12 other scholarship players at Indiana have a combined 30 siblings.

He's another head-shaking stat about Jurkin: He was 21 inches taller than his high school coach last season – former NBA star Mugsy Bogues.
