LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Thursday night's storms sparked a house fire in Prospect.

A neighbor saw lightning strike the home in the 6300 block of Zurich Court in the Glen Oaks neighborhood around 9 p.m. Aug. 17.

When the house caught fire, neighbors started banging on the door to make sure the homeowner -- Avi Lulla -- got out in time.

Lulla says he is just lucky to be alive -- and thankful that his neighbors made sure he was safe.

"And I'm lucky I was the only one in there," Lulla said. "Because I'm a pretty heavy sleeper so I don't think I would have woken up unless everybody would have come over and started knocking on the door."

Lulla says everything in his home was destroyed. He says the garage wasn't damaged and he's glad he'll have a place to stay.
