LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Kentucky is getting $17.5 million for 18 transportation projects across the state that include landscaping for a new downtown Louisville office building to millions for Owensboro's riverfront.

The unspent federal Transportation Department earmark grants were announced Friday by the White House.

The Courier-Journal reported that nearly $491,000 will be used to add trees, landscaping, sidewalks and other beautification work along Market and Floyd streets where the medical research building is under construction.

Other grants announced were $5.25 million for a business and industrial site in Warren County, near Bowling Green, and $4.91 million for the Owensboro riverfront projects.

Other projects getting funding include $3.93 million for the I-66 northern bypass at Somerset and $2.27 million to help develop Paducah's waterfront.
