Five former UK players, (from left) Doron Lamb, Terrence Jones, Anthony Davis, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Marquis Teague, gathered for the league's rookie photo shoot this week.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – The NBA brought together the first-round picks from the Class of 2012 for its rookie photo shoot this week. And after advising them on how to market themselves for the camera, they had the 39 invited players do some voting for a story that appeared on NBA.com
Several former Kentucky players won the balloting in three categories.
Guess which ones?
Most likely to be Rookie of the Year: Anthony Davis, 47.1 percent, followed by Damian Lillard of Weber State, 17.6 percent.
Most likely to have best career? Davis, 40.6 percent, followed by Harrison Barnes of North Carolina, 12.5. Sounds as if the players believe Barnes fell too many spots in the draft before Golden State selected him with the seventh pick.
Most overlooked – Four-way tie between Draymond Green, Perry Jones, Andrew Nicholson and Tony Wroten.
Most athletic – Former Baylor stars Quincy Acy and Perry Jones, 17.6.
Best Shooter – John Jenkins of Vandy (48.6), followed by Bradley Beal of Florida (16.2). Doron Lamb did not crack the top six.
Best Defender: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (28.6) followed by Davis (14.3).
Funniest Rookie – Fab Melo of Syracuse at 22.9. Maybe they thought it was hilarious the way he left the Orange hanging in the post-season.
Favorite Player in the league: LeBron James (31 percent), followed by Kobe Bryant (18).
