TARC to make more frequent stops along Fourth Street corridor

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Hoping on the bus between south Louisville and downtown just got a little easier.  TARC is rolling out frequent stops on the Fourth Street corridor route.

Between Iroquois Park and Market Street in downtown, buses now arrive every 10 or 20 minutes from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. on weekdays.  Officials call it a major step in public transportation.

Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer says, "It's critical for people who are using public transportation.  They want to know that the bus is going to be coming by, whether it's every 15 minutes or 10 minutes."

TARC says it's had success with two other frequent bus arrival times on the routes on Preston and Dixie Highways and on Broadway and Bardstown Road.
