U of L is favored to beat UK by 13 1/2, the third largest spread since 1994.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Are the wise guys starting to soften on the idea of a Louisville blowout in the season opener against Kentucky Sunday?
Only a little.
According to the folks at VegasInsider.com, the line for game has moved from Cards by 14 to 13 ½.
Certainly not a major move, but it's still worth noting considering all the discussion about a Louisville romp. It's still the third-largest spread since the series kicked off in 1994.
That inspired me to check the record on the point spreads on previous U of L-UK football games. Here are the games with the five largest spreads – with the eventual result.
2005 – Louisville by 23. Final score: U of L 31, Kentucky 24.
2006 – Louisville by 22. Final score: U of L 59, UK 28.
2012 – U of L by 13 /12. Final score: Take a guess.
2009 – UK by 13. Final score: UK 31, Kentucky 27.
2002 – U of L by 13. Final score: UK 22, U of L 17.
