LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Officials in Breckinridge County are searching for a second inmate after jail officers say he escaped yesterday evening.
Breckinridge County Sheriff Todd Pate confirms that David Dowell escaped yesterday from the jail. He says that Dowell walked away from a work detail site near the facility.
According to the Kentucky Online Offender Lookup, Dowell is serving a sentence for a burglary charge.
Kentucky State Police spokesman Norman Chaffins says Dowell was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white T-shirt and boots. He may still be wearing those clothes.
Dowell is the second inmate to escape from the Breckinridge County Jail this week. Robert Waddell overpowered a deputy while being transported back to the jail from a hospital on Thursday. He poked the deputy with a sharp object, dropped him in a rural area and took the official's jail vehicle and shoes.
The deputy walked two miles to the nearest residence and used a phone to call for help.
Waddell was found at around 4:30 Saturday afternoon and is now in police custody. He has now been charged with escape, kidnapping, assault, wanton endangerment and theft by unlawful taking.
