Passenger air service planned in Elizabethtown

Posted: Updated:

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (AP) -- Airport officials in Elizabethtown say they are in talks with two airlines in the hopes of getting commuter service at the central Kentucky facility.

Addington Field Elizabethtown Regional Airport Board Chairman Joe Yates told The News-Enterprise that if all goes according to plan, an agreement could be signed by the end of this year.

Yates said similar negotiations in 2011 stalled due to the faltering economy, but now airlines are rebounding.

According to a report on the airport's website, the airline would serve 24 counties in the south-central Kentucky region. That includes the cities of Elizabethtown, Bowling Green, Glasgow, Campbellsville, Lebanon, Leitchfield and Morgantown.
