LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Metro Parks says a lack of oxygen may be what killed hundreds of fish in a local lake.

Neighbors and MSD first reported dead fish last night in Watterson Lake Park.

Today, the park reeks of rotting fish and workers were picking up the carcasses.

A Metro Parks spokesperson said the cause may be a lack of oxygen in the water, attributed to the weekend weather.

However, biologists must still perform more tests to be sure.

The lake spans about four acres and is a popular fishing spot.
