LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Fire officials believe a fire at an auto body repair shop near Kentucky Kingdom may have been sparked by welding equipment.
Firefighters were called to the Jim Berry Collision Center in the 500 block of Dakota Street off Crittenden Drive shortly after 5 o'clock Tuesday evening.
When fire crews arrived, flames were shooting from the roof of the paint shop. It took 20 firefighters approximately 25 minutes to put out the fire.
Fire officials say two employees were inside the paint shop at the time doing some welding on the paint booth when the fire started.
"We believe it caught some material on fire in the wall of the paint booth and then extended up into other areas of the building," said Louisville Fire and Rescue Chief Gregory Frederick.
