LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two Louisville men are facing misdemeanor charges after police say their plan to hold a woman's stolen property for a $30 ransom backfired.

It happened on Saturday night, shortly after 8:00. Police say the woman -- whose purse and cell phone had been stolen from University Hospital two days earlier -- received a phone call from a man who said he had the property and was willing to sell it back to her for $30.

Police say the man had gotten her contact info from the purse.

The woman agreed to meet with the man at the hospital. Then she called police.

When she arrived, police say the suspects, 44-year-old Anthony Watts and 50-year-old Calvin Collins, were there to meet her.

Police were also there.

Police apprehended both Watts and Collins, who arrived with the stolen purse and cell phone. Watts was intoxicated, according to the arrest report.

Both men were charged with receipt of stolen property.
