David Camm asking to be released from jail

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- David Camm is asking Indiana's highest court to release him from jail until his third murder trial sometime next year.

Camm's attorneys filed the motion Tuesday. They ask for Camm's release on his own recognizance or with what they call "reasonable" restrictions.

He's been in custody more than 1,000 days, by their count, since his conviction from a second trial was overturned.

And the attorneys argue that's way too long.

The judge for his third murder trial denied Camm a chance for release or bond in late July.

He's being held in jail in Evansville, accused of killing his wife and children in their Georgetown, Ind., home in the year 2000.
