LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Thousands of people on Kentucky roads got a not-so friendly reminder from police to buckle up.

Kentucky State Police wrote nearly 9,000 seat belt tickets this summer.

It was part of Operation B.L.U.E. Lights.

The program from June until Labor Day weekend was aimed at reducing the number of deaths on Kentucky Roadways. The agency also made more than 2,000 DUI arrests, caught 41 fugitives, and cited more than 930 parents for car seat violations.
