Two dead in church shooting, suspect in custody

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two people have been killed in a shooting at Springdale Community Church, in the 4600-block of Springdale Road, north of the Summit shopping center, authorities said.

WDRB reporter Kelly Davis reports that police on the scene told her of the two fatalities. Davis also reports police have a suspected shooter in custody.

Neighbors at the scene tell WDRB News the suspected shooter was upset over deed restrictions to his property and shot two people during a Spring Gate homeowners' association meeting.

A bible study and at least one soccer game was taking place inside and outside the church at the time of the shooting, several people told WDRB News.

One person inside the church ran out and screamed, "Run!" to those at a soccer game, Davis reported.

The shooting was first reported about 7:30 p.m. Numerous Louisville Metro Police, fire and EMS units responded to the church, which is located north of The Summit shopping center.
