Louisville orchestra opens 75th season

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- For the first time since May of last year, the Louisville Orchestra is performing for the public.

Tonight kicked off the 75th season with a concert called "Fanfara."  This was the first concert together since resolving their dispute with orchestra management.

Under a one-year contract, the orchestra payroll has been reduced from 71 to 55 musicians.

But, CEO Robert Birman says audiences won't notice a difference. He says every concert will be a different number based on the demands.

Over the next year, the two sides will try to hammer-out a longer-term deal.
