U of L, UK, IU and WKU all gained in Jeff Sagarin's computer rankings.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – I know somebody who worked extremely
late last night – other than Steve Andress and Eric Crawford:
Jeff Sagarin.
His new college football computer rankings are already
posted at the USA Today web site. I'll give three numbers on the local teams.
The first one will be Elo-Chess, the one that does not
include margin of victory and is part of the BCS formula. The second will be
Predictor, which is Sagarin's preferred number because it does include margin
of victory at his preferred level. The third is blended, which includes margin
of victory at a reduced level.
LOUISVILLE – The Cards jumped 32 spots in the Sagarin's BCS
numbers, moving from 59 to 27. Louisville sits 26th in Sagarin's two other
rankings.
KENTUCKY – UK gained six spots by defeating Kent State,
moving from 70 to 64. They're 65 and 64 in Sagarin's two other numbers.
INDIANA – The Hoosiers improved 26 spots, in the BCS
numbers, climbing from 122 to 96. Their two other numbers are 89 and 90.
WESTERN KENTUCKY – The formula gave WKU major props for
playing Alabama. Western improved from 124 to 72, with other rankings of 99
(predictor) and 96 (blended).
Here is Sagarin's Top 10 in the BCS formula:
- Alabama
- LSU
- South Carolina
- UCLA
- South Florida (The Big East asks to stop the
season now.)
- Florida
- Iowa State
- Michigan State
- Kansas State
10. Oregon.
